During the last month, the Chinese Navy has carried out a series of joint naval maneuvers from Indian Ocean to Mediterranean Sea with Pakistan, Iran, some Arabic countries and Russia. Thus, the question that comes to mind is whether such maneuvers are regarded as a change in China’s naval strategy and whether they could be influential in the balance of power of the aforementioned regions. The reply to such a question can be examined at a macro and micro levels. At a macro level, such maneuvers will be an important step towards the emergence of China’s new naval strategy in the high seas. At a micro level (i.e. intraregional level), the importance of such maneuvers needs to be examined within the framework of China’s relations with the aforementioned countries and the region that a maneuver is performed within it. The aim of the following essay is to answer the above question at the two above-mentioned levels.
