Despite the toughness and resistance shown by Russia, Europe’s sanctions against Moscow have been extended to 2018 and the US is also planning to intensify its embargoes and make them into binding laws. It seems that three years after introduction of anti-Russia sanctions by the US and EU and its evident economic impacts, the West is determined to continue on this path until Russia changes its behavior. Although political evidence still shows otherwise, the process of integrating Crimea into Russia continues rapidly and the crisis in eastern Ukraine is a fire under ashes that could reignite with the slightest breeze. Also, Russia is following a different path in Syria than the West. Furthermore, the West’s accusations against Russia in such cases as meddling in the US elections and possible interference in Eastern Europe have intensified.
