Abstract

This policy paper focuses on US-India military cooperation and includes the following highlights:


1.     Situation of India in long-term US strategy has prompted Washington to strengthen military infrastructures of India as a powerful ally with reliable weaponry and technological capacities in South Asia.


2.     Russian companies have been unable to supply advanced technology to India and the United States is trying to appease India’s communist parties and convince them to agree to US-India nuclear agreement.


3.     Concerns about 2008 presidential elections, has made the Republican government of President Bush sign military contracts with India which are of strategic importance to US foreign policy.
