About us
In line with its objectives as enshrined in the Statute of the Center, the Department of Foreign Policy Research conducts research activities in order to realize the overall objectives of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Department’s research covers the following two levels of national strategy:
1. Grand strategy, which focuses on three areas. The first relates to the objectives of the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran as enshrined in the constitution. The second covers Iran’s strategic status in the political and economic geography of the world, and the third has to do with the dynamic nature of the international system.
2. Micro-level strategy, which refers to policies pursued by the Islamic Republic of Iran in response to the conduct of other actors of the international system in order to meet more immediate needs, i.e. security and welfare.
At both levels of the aforementioned strategies, the Department tries to keep a delicate balance between the ends and potentials.
The Department carries out its duties in the following ways:
A- Undertaking long-term research projects about fundamental issues that shape the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the international system
B- Compiling and presenting theoretical papers on fundamental issues in Iran's foreign policy
C- Compiling and presenting applied papers with regard to short-term and immediate crises, as well as problems facing Iran's foreign policy
D- Establishing contacts with professors, scholars and researchers in Iran and outside the country
E- Publication of research results in the form of pamphlets and books
F- Adoption and selection of appropriate articles for publishing in Rahbord [Strategy] Quarterly
G- Establishing connections with educational and research institutions both in and out of Iran
H- Conducting joint research projects with Iranian and foreign academic institutions
I- Creation of data banks concerning various aspects of Iran’s foreign policy
 Goals :
The Department of Foreign Policy Research pursues the following objectives:
1. To strengthen the knowledge of officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran about the issues and dimensions of Iran's foreign policy in various geographical areas
2. To explain the regional and international strategies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the fields of foreign policy and international relations
3. To create a team of professional, experienced and sophisticated experts on issues related to the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
4. To bring together experts, researchers and scholars who work on foreign policy questions of the Islamic Republic of Iran
